Coalition Agents Experiment: Multi-Agent Co-operation in an International Coalition Setting
نویسندگان
چکیده
Military Coalitions are examples of large-scale multi-faceted virtual organizations, which sometimes need to be rapidly created and flexibly changed as circumstances alter. The Coalition Agents eXperiment (CoAX) aims to show that multi-agent systems are an effective way of dealing with the complexity of real-world problems, such as agile and robust Coalition operations and enabling interoperability between heterogeneous components including legacy and actual military systems. CoAX is an international collaboration carried out under the auspices of DARPA's Control of Agent-Based Systems (CoABS) program. Building on the CoABS Grid framework, the CoAX agent infrastructure groups agents into domains that reflect real-world organizational, functional and national boundaries, such that security and access to agents and information can be governed by policies at multiple levels. A series of staged demonstrations of increased complexity are being conducted in a realistic peace-enforcement scenario situated in 2012 in the fictitious African state of "Binni". These demonstrations show how agent technologies support the rapid, co-ordinated construction of a Coalition command system for intelligence gathering, for visualization, and for campaign, battle and mission planning and execution.

Dynamic Agent Systems in the CoAX Binni 2002 Experiment
The goal of the international CoAX (Coalition Agents eXperiment) program was to demonstrate how agent systems could be used to provide agile and flexible command and control systems for coalition operations, and facilitate rapid integration of national C2 systems. The CoAX experiments modelled a coalition C4ISR system as a distributed, heterogeneous agent network using the DARPA CoABS (Control ...
متن کاملSome Optimizations in Maximal Clique Based Distributed Coalition Formation for Collaborative Multi-Agent Systems
We study scalable and efficient coordination and negotiation protocols for collaborative multi-agent systems (MAS). The coordination problem we address is multi-agent coalition formation in a fully decentralized, resource-bounded setting. More specifically, we design, analyze, optimize and experiment with the Maximal Clique based Distributed Coalition Formation (MCDCF) algorithm. We briefly des...
متن کاملAgent-based Intelligent Support to Coalition Operations: a Case Study of Health Service Logistics Support
Coalition operations are very likely based on a number of different groups of people, non-governmental organizations, institutions providing humanitarian aid and also army troops and official governmental initiatives. As a result, to manage any coalition operation an efficient knowledge sharing between multiple participating parties is required. The paper proposes an approach that combines know...
متن کاملOptimal Coalition Structure Generation In Partition Function Games
1 In multi-agent systems (MAS), coalition formation is typically studied using characteristic function game (CFG) representations, where the performance of any coalition is independent from co-existing coalitions in the system. However, in a number of environments, there are significant externalities from coalition formation where the effectiveness of one coalition may be affected by the format...
متن کاملIncreasing Coalition Stability in Large-Scale Coalition Formation with Self-Interested Agents
In coalition formation with self-interested agents both social welfare of the multi-agent system and stability of individual coalitions must be taken into account. However, in large-scale systems with thousands of agents, finding an optimal solution with respect to both metrics is infeasible. In this paper we propose an approach for finding coalition structures with suboptimal social welfare an...
